Dr Ted Donelan,  President - VIC

Dr Donelan is a veterinarian based in Melbourne, where he has been running his own private practices for more than 30 years. He has a similarly long history of involvement in animal welfare and animal management policy planning and implementation at local, state and national levels. He was a founding board member of the Delta Society in Australia. Five years ago he established and has since maintained a dog health program at Maningrida in Arnhem Land (Maningrida is the second-largest Indigenous community in Australia).

Dr Peter Stephenson, Vice President - NT

peter-stevenson_pic.JPG Peter Stephenson is an experienced environmental health practitioner and tertiary educator with research and professional interests at the intersection of environmental health policy and practice: Indigenous communities' capacity building; professional education and curriculum development. Peter is currently Head of Research at the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education in the Northern Territory.

Mr Geoff Irwin, Secretary - QLD

Mr Irwin started working in Local Government in 1977 and has been involved in animal management issues since 1994. He works closely with Councils in South East Queensland and Northern NSW, and  is  vice president of AIAM (Australian Institute of Animal Management) and  a  board   member of  AMRRIC (Animal Management in Rural and  Remote Indigenous Communities).  Geoff has a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management from Flinders University and a range of practical qualifications in animal management. Geoff was born in Cunnamulla Queensland and is proud of his aboriginality.

Dr Stephen Cutter - NT

steven-n.jpg Dr Cutter is a veterinarian with three private veterinary practices in and around Darwin. He is committed to delivering dog health programs with the very best standards of animal welfare, and he and other veterinarians in his practices have conducted three-monthly dog health programs in the Tiwi Islands and in other Northern Territory communities for 10 years.

Dr Liz Tudor - VIC

Dr Liz Tudor is a Senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. Liz is a member of the Bone and Muscle Cell Biology and the Veterinary Pharmacology . Liz has been supervising and coordinating the Gunbalunya Dog Health program in West Arnhem Land for many years.

Mr Clayton Abreu - QLD

clayton-contact.jpg Mr Clayton Abreu, is the Indigenous Environmental Health Program Officer (IEHPO) working for Tropical Population Health Service Qld Health Department. Working in the field of Indigenous Environmental Health for the past 8 years. He is committed to improving Environmental Health conditions in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities through sustainable Environmental Health programs which include Animal Management.

Merle O'Donnell - QLD

Merle O’Donnell is the Environmental Health Coordinator in Central Qld Public Health Office. Merle recently graduated with an Applied Science (Environmental Health) degree and also holds a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Communication & Psychology) Merle was the Chairman for 4 years on the National Indigenous Environmental Health Forum, now WGATSIEH. As chair Merle also sat on enHealth Council. Merle’s has experiences in local government as a Councillor for a 3 year term, Manager in Centrelink, Aboriginal Education, and CEO of Aboriginal Medical Service. Merle joined QH in 2000 and also did 12 months in Fitzroy Crossing WA as the EH Coordinator working with the Aboriginal staff and communities.

Ms Sabina Shugg - WA

Sabina is a mining engineer working in the field of management consulting.  In her early twenties she returned to Kalgoorlie and worked in the mining industry for a few years before studying Mining Engineering at the WA School of Mines. She has since had a varied career working in operational and management roles in various parts of WA and the NT and these days primarily works in Perth.  Sabina has an MBA from UWA. In 2003 Sabina started WIMWA (Women in Mining and Resources WA) (www.womeninmining.com) which is a networking group for women in the resources sector.

Dr Ann-Margret Withers, Treasurer - NSW

Dr Ann-Margret Withers is a veterinarian for RSPCA NSW, living in Sydney. She has been involved in delivering dog health programs in far western NSW with FWAHS/GWAHS for the past five years, as well as being involved in similar programs overseas. She is very interested in the link between animal and human health and welfare.
