Support from the federal Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) has been critical to AMRRIC’s funding and growth. Following a meeting between Minister Jenny Macklin, AMRRIC President Dr Ted Donelan and CEO Julia Hardaker, the department has confirmed enhanced funding in recognition of AMRRIC’s work in improving conditions in remote Indigenous communities.
AMRRIC gratefully acknowledges Minister Jenny Macklin and the Aboriginals Benefit Account (ABA) for their ongoing support and funding for the next two years. We also extend our warm thanks to Minister Malarndirri McCarthy, Minister for the NT Department of Housing and Local Government, for two newly funded projects for 2012 - 2013.
Through these funding commitments, AMRRIC is employing its first Indigenous Project Officer (our Reconciliation Action Plan in action), engaging an Education Strategist to develop a NT School Education Strategy, and developing a new educational DVD ‘Living with Camp Dogs - Staying Safe’. The DVD will be a guide to understanding dog behaviour and staying safe around dogs.
