In February 2018, AMRRIC’s Project Officer, veterinarian Dr Bonny Cumming was invited by The Northern Institute to speak about AMRRIC as part of their People.Policy.Place seminar series. While AMRRIC staff regularly present to conference audiences, the opportunity to speak in Darwin to a local audience is a rare occasion and one that AMRRIC truly appreciates.
In her presentation “Them Cheeky Dogs – challenges and opportunities in remote community animal management” Dr Cumming spoke about the value of dogs and cats in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, the challenges associated with poorly managed companion animal populations, the work that AMRRIC does in this space, as well as opportunities for collaboration to improve the status quo.
A recording of Dr Cumming’s presentation is freely available for viewing here:
AMRRIC thanks the Northern Institute for inviting us to spread awareness of the challenges and opportunities in remote community animal management.
