Wonderful Return to Lajamanu

In October, AMRRIC gathered a fantastic team and traversed the now familiar 9 hour drive to Lajamanu, NT, to continue to support the community and its furry companions through provision of vital vet services.

During the visit, a total of 98 animals received treatment for parasites, and the vets also took care of pets dealing with skin diseases and other health concerns. With their owner’s consent, dogs and cats were also desexed to help prevent overpopulation.

But it’s not just about animal health… Building trusted relationships between the veterinary team and the community is equally important to us. A community BBQ was a chance for the team and community members to sit down, have a chat, and for the community to ask any questions they might have about their animals in an informal setting. At the BBQ, we also set up an educational craft station –  some of the community’s youngsters had a blast making collars for their dogs in a fun craft activity!

Lajamanu always makes us feel welcome, and we love connecting with the wonderful people there and their amazing animals. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, eager for more heartwarming moments in this fantastic community.
