This article is an exert from Sharing Tracks, Issue 11 – a newsletter designed for those working in animal health and management roles in rural and remote Indigenous communities.
This fact sheet provides guidance for people working in animal health and management roles in rural and remote Indigenous communities on how to prepare an animal emergency kit.
Having an animal emergency kit ready helps ensure animals can be safely identified, handled and provided with basic care during emergencies. The resource outlines key items to include, such as identification and record-keeping tools, first aid supplies, handling and restraint equipment, food and water, and cleaning and sanitation items. It also encourages Animal Management Workers to discuss veterinary medicines and supplies with their veterinary service provider to ensure safe and appropriate use.
